North of Lake Erie and southeast of Lake Huron sits Middlesex Centre, a township in Middlesex County. Middlesex Centre consists of multiple rural towns and villages, including Delaware, Komoka, Birr, Coldstream, and more. One of these communities is the small and quiet village of Kilworth, which has over 1,750 residents.

Many people interested in living outside of London opt to live in Kilworth, as it’s 4 km closer to London than the neighbouring village of Komoka. Given its proximity to London and Komoka, the residents of Kilworth get to enjoy the various conveniences offered by both areas.

Old Kilworth Versus Kilworth Heights

Kilworth Heights is a newer area in the west, located closer to Komoka. Neighbourhood planning is still taking place, so more recent real estate developments in Kilworth Heights are largely detached, single-family homes. Though residents have close access to Komoka and the gorgeous Komoka Provincial Park, Kilworth Heights doesn’t currently have any of its own schools, banks, or grocery stores. Still, residents can easily attend school and do their shopping in Komoka and London.

The older areas of Kilworth on the east side aren’t too different, though they’re typically more rural. The homes in “Old” Kilworth consist mostly of stone cottages and heritage properties. As a result, homes in this area rely on individual wells and septic tanks, whereas homes in Kilworth Heights rely on services from Komoka.

Enjoy Various Events and Activities Nearby

On the surface, it may seem as though there isn’t much to do in Kilworth. However, its convenient location between London and Komoka ensures that Kilworth’s residents always have restaurants, shopping centres, and parks to fill their evenings and weekends.

This includes the aforementioned Komoka Provincial Park, a massive area of protected forest running alongside the scenic Thames River, where residents can go fishing and canoeing. This all-season park has lots of trails for hiking, cycling, horseback riding, and cross-country skiing.

Kilworth is also a short drive from London’s Storybook Gardens in Springbank Park. Storybook Gardens has lots of wildlife and greenery for adults to enjoy, and educational shows and climbing structures for the kids!

Ski the Picturesque Boler Mountain

Boler Mountain is an all-season outdoor recreation resort for people of all ages and abilities. It’s a popular spot for the people in Kilworth and surrounding communities. Located just a short drive away in London, Boler Mountain operates all winter as a 15-trail ski resort. For non-skiers, also have a great tubing park.

Outside of the winter months, Boler Mountain is popular for mountain biking, cycling races, and rentals. They’ve also recently added a Treetop Adventure Park with zip-lining, swinging bridges, and rope courses. Since its founding over 70 years ago, Boler Mountain has established itself as a beloved getaway spot for Kilworth residents.
