Parkhill Ontario

Parkhill is one of several communities in North Middlesex, a municipality in Middlesex County in southern Ontario. Along with the town of Parkhill, North Middlesex encompasses the townships of East Williams, West Williams, and McGillivray, as well the village of Ailsa Craig. The municipality has a combined population of over 6,500 spread across these communities.

Originally known as Westwood, Parkhill was incorporated as a village in 1872 and as a town in 1886. It offered employment in various industries, including sawmills, a flax mill, and a woollen mill. Today, Parkhill continues to provide exciting opportunities for couples and families looking for a quiet place to settle down.

Walk Past Parkhill’s Victorian Buildings

The architecture you’ll come across in Parkhill is truly mesmerizing. They’re treasured landmarks of the town’s rich history. Given the town’s beginnings in the mid 19th century, Parkhill boasts multiple Victorian commercial buildings, homes, and churches. Several of these buildings, including the Cheapside Block and Gibbs Block, can be found along Main Street.

If you’d like to learn more about the history of the area, you can visit the Donald Hughes Annex Museum. The museum has lots of information and local artefacts and is just a 10-minute drive away in Ailsa Craig. There’s also the Donnelly Museum, 20 minutes away in Lucan, which is a great place to hear stories from knowledgeable locals.

Enjoy the Activities of Surrounding Communities

As mentioned, Parkhill is just one of many communities in North Middlesex. There’s also Beechwood, Bornish, Bowood, Brinsley, Carlisle, Clandeboye, Corbett, Greenway, Hungry Hollow, Lieury, Lucan Crossing, Mooresville, Moray, Mount Carmel, Nairn, Sable, Springbank, Sylvan, and West McGillivray. Though a few are divided by a municipal boundary with Lucan Biddulph, they’re all within close driving distance of Parkhill.

This allows Parkhill residents to enjoy the amenities and activities that make each community unique, including the aforementioned museums in Ailsa Craig and Lucan. Parkhill is also less than a 25-minute drive away from Grand Bend’s farmers’ markets, Ilderton’s heritage forest, and so much more.

A Welcoming Home for Families Everywhere

Parkhill has everything a family needs to grow and thrive in a small town. This includes quality public schools for kids of all ages, including Parkhill West Williams Public School and North Middlesex District High School. Parkhill also has several churches, a community centre, and the North Middlesex Arena, which has a sizeable skating rink.

What’s more, residents are within walking distance, or a few minutes drive, of five baseball diamonds, five soccer fields, seven picnic shelters, two tennis courts, five playgrounds, two splash parks, and two skateboard parks. Needless to say, outdoorsy and athletic families will be more than satisfied with the amenities offered in Parkhill and the surrounding communities.
