London Ontario

At the confluence of the Thames River, just 200 km from both Toronto and Detroit, sits the city of London. With a population of over 380,000 people, London is Southwestern Ontario’s largest municipality.

Founded in 1826 and incorporated in 1855, this once small village has gone on to annex several surrounding communities over the years. This immense growth has attracted swaths of people seeking new opportunities, making London the happening city it is today. Families and couples of all ages and backgrounds have found beautiful homes in London. Could you be next?

A Centre of Health Care and Education

What draws many people to this great city is its educational opportunities. This is perhaps best exemplified by Western University, which operates 12 academic faculties and schools across the city. This highly-rated public research university has been attended by the best of the best, including Nobel Laureates and Rhodes Scholars.

There’s also the stellar Fanshawe College of Applied Arts and Technology, which is one of the largest colleges in the country, and the University Hospital (which is affiliated with Western University). The University Hospital is just one of several hospitals in the area, as London offers both incredible schools and pristine hospitals. This being the case, it should come as no surprise that London’s schools and hospitals are among the city’s top 10 employers.

Fantastic Location and Convenient Transportation

London is situated in a uniquely appealing location in Southwestern Ontario, at the junction of the 401 and 402. Along with being 200 km from both Toronto and Detroit, the city is also just 120 km from Lake Huron and 40 km from Lake Erie. Both lakes are fantastic getaway spots if you ever need a break from the hustle and bustle of the city. At Lake Huron and Lake Erie, you and your family can hike, ride bikes, go rock climbing, or simply enjoy a relaxing afternoon on the beach.

London also offers easy access to Sarnia, Windsor, Buffalo, and multiple other surrounding cities. London residents enjoy convenient commutes to and from these cities and towns using the various forms of transportation offered in the area. This includes trains, buses, and an international airport.

Plenty of Gorgeous Greenery

Worried that living in a city will leave you feeling deprived of the great outdoors? London has several beautiful parks with lots of natural greenery, including Harris Park, Springbank Park, Gibbons Park, Westminster Ponds, the Fanshawe Conservation Area, and the popular Victoria Park in downtown London.

Victoria Park also hosts various community events, attracting approximately 1 million visitors annually! Of course, the parks aren’t usually terribly crowded or busy. You’ll have no trouble finding quiet spots to go for a walk, take in some views, and enjoy some fresh air.
